The International Centre of the Roerichs (ICR), located on the territory of the city of the Lopukhins‘ estate, is an international public organization, collaborating with the UN and the UNESCO.
In 1990, the great Russian artist and public figure Svetoslav Roerich donated to Russia a priceless cultural legacy of his parents – hundreds of paintings, a unique archive, valuable rarities – for the foundation of the Nicholas Roerich Museum. The Museum staff have carried out complex restoration works of the Lopoukhin estate that have received high international praise – without the help of the state, at the expense of patrons and public donations.
In recent years, the Museum of the Roerich led a protracted dispute with the Pushkin Museum, Museum of the East for its territory and exhibits. Some officials of the Ministry of Culture have intensified their destructive actions against the ICR. They have been trying to withdraw its part of the Roerich heritage and to evict the organization from the Lopoukhin estate which can result in the destruction of this Museum of the Roerich and commit an irreparable blow to national and world culture.
On the 7 of March investigators (about three dozen security officials in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of culture and the Museum of the East) conducted searches in the building of the ICR. The entrances to the building was blocked by riot police.
They broke down the door – opened the grinder, impound the documents belonging to the Museum of the Roerich property, including paintings.
The interior Ministry said that searches at the International center of the Roerichs was held in the framework of the case of fraud of former sponsor of the ICR.
Investigators carted away more than 200 exhibits, including one of the paintings of Nicholas Roerich, which soon were to be displayed at the exhibition (the cost of exhibits is equal to millions of dollars).
All this exhibits were transferred to the Museum of the East in non-proper cars unsuitable for cultural property transportation without any explanation. The investigators rolled the paintings like vandals damaging them, violated the rules of storage access and rules for valuable exhibits handling.
The Museum of the East for comments about the searches in the ICR was not available.
Roerich has a wide international appeal and is one of the more expensive Russian artists today. Not just Russian, but also American and European collectors fight to acquire his most important pieces.
It is so sad to realize that instead of working in the name of culture and ideas of art, Ministry of Culture of Russia easily breaks down things which even have been built even without any help of the Government.

В 1990 великий русский художник и общественный деятель Святослав Рерих пожертвовал для России бесценное культурное наследие своих родителей - сотни картин, уникальный архив, ценные rarities, которые легли в основу музея Николай Рериха. Сотрудники музея провели комплекс работ по восстановлению усадьбы Лопухиных, которые получили высокие международные похвалы - без помощи государства, за счет покровителей и пожертвований.
В последние годы, музей рериха находился в затяжном конфликте с Пушкинским музеем, музеем Востока. Некоторые чиновники Министерства культуры активизировали свои деструктивные действия против МЦР. Они пытались изъять наследие и выселить Музей из усадьбы, что может привести к разрушению музея Рериха и нанести непоправимый удар по национальной и мировой культуре.
7 марта следователи (около трех десятков сотрудников безопасности в присутствии представителей Министерства культуры и музея Востока) провели обыски в зданиях Музея. Входы в здания были блокированы полицией.
Они сломали дверь, конфисковали документы, принадлежащие Музею Рериха, имущество, включая картины.
Министерство внутренних дел говорит, что обыски в Международном Центре Рерихов состоялись в рамках дела о мошенничестве бывших спонсоров МЦР.
Следователи вывезли более 200 экспонатов, в том числе одну из картин Николая Рериха, которая вскоре должна была быть представлена на выставке (ее стоимость равна миллионам долларов).
Все эти экспонаты были переведены в Музее Востока в непригодном для перевозки картин и других культурных ценностей транспорте без каких-либо объяснений. Следователи действовали как вандалы, что ведет к повреждению картин, с нарушением правил хранения, доступа и правил обращения с ценными экспонатами.
Комментарии Музея Востока по поводу обыска в МЦР отсутствуют.
Рерих широко известен в мире и является одним из наиболее дорогие русские художники сегодня. Не только в России, но и американские и европейские коллекционеры сражаться, чтобы приобрести его наиболее важные полотна.
Это так грустно осознавать, что вместо того чтобы работать во имя культуры и идеи искусства, Министерство культуры России легко уничтожает то, что было создано общественностью даже без помощи правительства.
